About Johnston County Memorial Hospital

Johnston Memorial Hospital (JMH), a 175-bed facility located in Smithfield, NC, offers the residents of Johnston and surrounding counties quality medical care in a warm, caring and compassionate environment.

Established in 1951, JMH has enjoyed impressive growth. The hospital is close to completing the construction of a Central Energy Plant (CEP), the precursor to building a new 5-story patient tower, which will bring the total bed capacity to 199. Also, JMH is pleased to announce the Certificate of Need (CON) approval for the construction of a new medical facility in Clayton, NC.

JMH reaches out to the community through satellite facilities across the county, including Johnston Family Care Centers, Kenly, NC and McGee's Crossroads, Benson, NC; QuikMed™ Urgent Care Center, Garner, NC, and Summit Surgical & Rehab Services, Clayton, NC.

About Johnston County, North Carolina

According to several national surveys and publications, North Carolina is one of the fastest growing and most desirable states in the country to live and work in. Johnston County, where Johnston Memorial Hospital is located, is one of the fastest growing counties in the state.

Johnston County, with a rapidly growing population of over 141,000, is centrally located in North Carolina, midway between New York and Florida at the crossroads of I-95 and I-40.

Just two hours from the Altantic coast and four hours from the Blue Ridge mountains, Johnston County's quiet, tranquil atmosphere is in direct contrast to the capitol city of Raleigh, located just 28 miles to the northwest in Wake County. In Raleigh, you can enjoy theater, concerts, professional sports, museums and all the amenities a large metropolitan area has to offer.

Johnston County offers great connections to history, entertainment, dining, lodging and outlet shopping, along with a generous helping of true Southern hospitality.

The Bentonville Battleground State Historic Site is the location of the last major battle of the Civil War and the largest military engagement ever fought on North Carolina soil. Atkinson's Mill is a working gristmill dating back 240 years. The Tobacco Farm Life Museum preserves an authentic slice of eastern North Carolina's rural heritage, and the Ava Gardner Museum celebrates the career of the film legend who was born and raised near Smithfield. The Johnston County Heritage Center preserves the history and culture of the county.
