 More than 45,000 patients will receive care this year in the Johnston Memorial Hospital Emergency Department (ED). In the ED, care is delivered by physicians and nurses, who are highly trained and certified for any high-level emergency.
The ED has major cardiac/trauma rooms, a major pediatric cardiac/trauma room and treatment room, chest pain observation beds, and Fast Track TM beds. There are also triage rooms for evaluation, a tracking system to monitor patient flow, radiology services, and a decontamination shower inside the department.
The Emergency Department features newer offices, lounges, a conference room, and a large waiting area. Depending on the urgency of the emergency, patients are allowed 2 visitors.
