Dr. Eric Janis, a Health Care HeroThe Triangle Business Journal (TBJ) has selected Eric Janis, MD, FACC as one of their Health Care Heroes for 2007. Dr. Janis, of Smithfield Heart and Vascular Associates, is a cardiologist and the Chief of Staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital (JMH).
The Health Care Heroes award is given to a select group of caregivers in honor of accomplishments in health care and for putting innovation and compassion to work to improve the human condition.
Dr. Janis attended Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1992, with a specialty in internal medicine. He completed a four-year fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins in 1996 and joined the medical staff at JMH the same year. In 2006, he was recognized by his peers as one of the “Best Doctors” in North Carolina for treating cardiovascular disease.
“As the leader of the JMH medical staff, Dr. Janis has worked to address the needs and concerns of physicians, staff and patients,” said JMH President and CEO Kevin Rogols.
“He has served as an effective liaison between the medical staff, the hospital board and administration.”
“The medical staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital is better served with Dr. Janis’ input,” said Sammy Jackson, Chairman of the JMH Board of Commissioners. “He is bright beyond medicine.”
Dr. Janis will be recognized at The Triangle Business Journal Health Care Heroes Award Dinner to be held at the Umstead Hotel in Cary on Thursday, March 29th.
