Quality Improvement/Compliance

Johnston Memorial Hospital believes that conscientious dedication to the highest ethical standards is essential to its mission. This dedication is important because the Hospital is charged with serving the community and because a significant portion of services are reimbursed through governmental programs, which properly require that business be conducted with complete integrity. The Hospital is committed to meeting these high ethical standards in all activities.

For these reasons, the Hospital has established a Legal Compliance Program and a Compliance Committee. The committee is charged with setting standards for conduct and monitoring conduct within the Hospital. The Hospital employs a Compliance Officer, who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Legal Compliance Program. Compliance standards have been adopted for the Hospital and employees have been educated about these standards.

Anyone who has a concern about conduct in hospital business dealings should contact the Hospital Compliance Officer or call the Hospital Ethics Help Line at 1-800-273-8452. The Ethics Help Line is available for anyone to report illegal or unethical conduct involving the Hospital. This Ethics Help Line can also provide guidance to individuals in interpreting whether conduct is illegal or unethical. The Ethics Help Line is available 24/7 and all calls are treated confidentially.

Quality Improvement

Johnston Memorial Hospital has adopted the philosophy of management by continuous improvement. All new employees are required to attend quality improvement orientation where they learn about the hospital's mission and vision statements as well as guiding principles and standards of behavior.

The Hospital encourages employees to participate on both intradepartmental and multidisciplinary teams. These teams may focus on improving either clinical or non-clinical processes. The Hospital's Quality Improvement Council oversees the quality program and monitors hospital-wide improvement. The Hospital also employs a full-time Quality Improvement Coach.

Patient Rights

Individuals having concerns about patient care and safety in the hospital are encouraged to contact a member of the hospital management team.

AVISO AL PÚBLICO

Recomendamos a los individuos con inquietudes acerca de los cuidados para pacientes y la seguridad en el hospital a que contacten a un miembro del equipo gerencial del hospital.
