 Physiatrists are physicians who treat conditions that cause pain or limit function. They are also called physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians. Dr. Jamie Udwadia of Summit Rehab Medicine can help people with a wide range of problems from carpal tunnel syndrome to multiple sclerosis or other brain injuries. The goal of rehabilitation medicine is to restore patients to their maximum functional status, helping them to return aspects of normalcy to their lives. This may be accomplished by prescribed therapies, medications, orthotics, prosthetics, or other modalities. It is a comprehensive specialty that includes prevention, early recognition as an inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. The office has a full-time rehabilitation physician and physical therapist. Additionally, a part-time occupational therapist is available. The office is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm and Tuesday 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. The physical therapy gym is open Monday through Thursday 7:30 - 5:00 pm and Friday 7:30 am - Noon. Patients are seen by appointment only.
