Support Needed to Secure Federal Funding for Dedicated Hospice Facility
Johnston Memorial is working to build a dedicated hospice inpatient and residential care facility in Johnston County, North Carolina.
Johnston Memorial Hospital (JMH), a 175-bed acute care hospital located in rural eastern North Carolina, is the sole hospital provider in Johnston County and has been serving its community with a broad continuum of care since 1951. JMH, through its licensed, Medicare-certified hospice home care agency, has been providing hospice home care services to terminally ill patients in Johnston County for nearly fifteen years.
To date, there is no dedicated, freestanding inpatient or residential hospice facility in Johnston County. In addition to the lack of hospice facility alternatives in Johnston County, none of the existing facilities in nearby counties has sufficient capacity to accommodate the needs of our patients.
Johnston Memorial has already secured land and has plans for a Capital Campaign to raise funds for this project. Please show your support to make this a reality for the people of Johnston County.
If you are in support of this project, please write a letter to your congressional representatives listed below and forward the letters to April Culver, Vice President of Government Affairs, Johnston Memorial Hospital, Post Office Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577 or via email at aculver@johnstonmemorial.org. The letters will be taken to Washington as a package in support of the project.
