Surgical Services 
Same Day Surgery/Endoscopy
The Same Day Surgery (SDS) and Endoscopy areas are located in the main hospital.
SDS includes outpatient surgery, eye laser surgery, outpatient cardiac catheterization, lithotripsy, TUMT, pain clinic, rheumatology and neurology outpatient clinics.
Most SDS patients pre-register with pre-admission testing (PAT) nurses several days prior to their scheduled procedure. SDS nursing staff may take care of outpatients receiving blood transfusions, antibiotic infusions, radiology biopsy procedures, and routine injections.
If you are scheduled for surgery:
- Be sure not to eat or drink anything after midnight the night before.
- Do not bring valuable personal items to the hospital.
- Be sure to bring a list of the medications that you take regularly.
- Bring someone to drive you home or arrange for transportation home.
- Children may bring a favorite toy to the OR.
SDS is open Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
PAT is available until 6 p.m. to take your calls. Call __________for more information.
Endoscopic patients (colonoscopy, gastroscopy, esophageal dilatation), as well as bronchoscopy and transesophageal echocardiogram patients report to the 5th floor for their scheduled procedures. Patients are pre-registered for these procedures and report directly to the unit at their scheduled time.
Endoscopy hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Summit Services
Summit Surgical Center, an outpatient surgery center located in Clayton, NC, is another outpatient surgery choice for area residents. Procedures such as orthopedic, eye, ENT, gynecological and cosmetic surgeries are regularly scheduled. Outpatient lab and radiology services are also offered.
