About Volunteer Services
Volunteers at Johnston Memorial Hospital assist staff, patients and visitors. They work 4-hour shifts, while accumulating hours that are acknowledged at the annual awards banquet with the presentation of service pins.
The Welcome Center
With a smile and a personal greeting, volunteer teams at the front information desk help to make hospital visitors feel welcome. They provide information and directions and personally assist visitors in finding their destination. The front desk is staffed daily from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Gift Shop
Visit the Gift Shop to find those unique and special gift needs. Located in the hospital's main lobby, the Gift Shop offers flowers, balloons, stuffed animals, toys, cards, toiletry items, etc. The shop serves everyone and proceeds from are used to purchase necessary medical equipment.
Gift Shop hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Call the Gift Shop at 919-934-8171, ext. 6176.
Other Volunteer Service Areas
Volunteers are located in the reception areas of the Emergency Department and Same Day Surgery daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Here they assist with patient check-in, while keeping families updated on their loved ones treatment and progress.
