| Biography: | A native of Peru, Dr Cieza comes to JMH from Barnwell, South Carolina. He received his medical degree in 1990 from the University of San Marco, Peru’s oldest national university. In 1995, he completed his internship at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he stayed to complete an internal medicine residency in 1998.
In 2000, Dr. Cieza finished a two-year infectious disease joint fellowship program at the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois. He received HIV/AIDS clinical training at the University of Texas at Houston in 2001.
Dr. Cieza has been involved in numerous clinical research trials and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
He believes that Lyme disease is rampant in areas where people are active outdoors. Headaches, fever and chronic fatigue are major symptoms of this infection, which can cause serious health problems if left untreated. The slow progression of Lyme disease can severely incapacitate those infected.
Dr. Cieza is fluent in English and Spanish. |
